Metzeler has increased its MCE 6 Days Extreme enduro tyre line-up for competition use with the addition of a new 140/80–18 rear in a “extra soft” compound.
“Designed for the most difficult technical sections and harshest terrain”, Metzeler’s new 6 Days Extreme Extra Soft rear has a tread compound designed to “guarantee maximum performance in extreme conditions” they tell us.
Designed for both technical difficult terrain but also very low temperatures they add about the new 140/80–18 rear which boasts consistent overall deformation of the carcass while riding to guarantee a good level of comfort, making it an easy tyre to use, even for less experienced riders.
The Extra Soft specification tyre visually stands out with three parallel white stripes on the tread, features a new layout of the knobs to “ensure optimal performance even at high lean angles, less wear and greater resistance to fatigue” Metzeler say.
The compound is also completely new, based on 100% Carbon Black and “highly resilient”, which they say means it is capable of absorbing deformation energy better. It also has a very wide range of use even in very cold temperatures.
EXTREME TRACTION
The specific distrubution and shape of the knobs along with their sharp edge provides the best traction on all terrains and in all racing fields. Rear sizes feature also a smooth contour design which lends to includes more knobs under the footprint area that ensures both traction and wear resistance.
TERRAIN VERSATILITY
Enduro competions take place on several different types of terrains and tyre versatility is mandatory to ensure winning performance. 6 DAYS EXTREME features a high-resistance carcass material with remarkable dampening characteristics that provide great versatility on different terrains, predictable behavior and feedback to the rider in all situations.
KNOB RESISTANCE TO TEAR & WEAR
The compound development of MCE 6 DAYS EXTREME is focuses on high performance carbon black filler, capable to provide heat resistance to knobs, greatly stressed during the racing activity. The specific polymers of the compund grant also chemical and mechanical grip on both dry and slippery surfaces, better resistance against abrasion, cuts and tears. In additions, tyre balanced stiffness on the carcass provides both flexibility and exvellent puncture and cut resistance, also on thoses racing terrains where tyref pressure is set lower than standard.
SPECIAL VERSIONS – Hard, Soft and Supersoft
Metzeler fulfills the specific needs of harder terrains, Enduro extreme applications and indoor races by dedicated special tyres.
The hard version has a different compound, made with high-performance carbon black and a special polymers, capable to ensure a specific resistance against cuts and tears.
Soft and Supersoft are dedicated to those tracks and races where superior power traction is required. To achieve this high level of adherence, these two special versions share a dedicated carcass and feature separate compounds.
Soft: polymer, filler and plasticizers ensure improved adherence with versatility to different surfaces and durability.
Supersoft: a higher ration of plasticizers results in a very soft rubber which ensures a maximum adherence even on the most difficult technical passages. The use of such a recipe has a trade-off in reduced durability.
